The Sibling Foundation is a nonprofit organization philanthropically dedicated to improving the social, emotional, and material well-being of persons with disabilities, their families, and other vulnerable members of society through advocacy, resource connection, education, and community partnerships.
Founded on the belief that siblings play lifelong roles as advocates, caregivers, and champions for their loved ones, we emphasize strengthening the sibling relationship while supporting the entire family. Together with our communities and partners, we work to advance dignity, inclusion, and lasting systemic change so every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Role Overview
The Secretary maintains official organizational records, prepares meeting minutes, supports board communications, and helps ensure accurate documentation and governance compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Located in Indiana
- Minimum of one year commitment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in business administration, nonprofit management, communications, law, or a related field.
- Previous nonprofit board, committee, or governance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of nonprofit governance, bylaws, and board procedures.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar software.
- Experience with Notion for document management and collaboration, or willingness to learn.
- Basic familiarity with Bluehost/WordPress website administration, including updating website content, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain confidential records with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain accurate board meeting minutes and official records.
- Manage governance documents and board records in Notion.
- Assist with routine updates to the Foundation’s Bluehost-hosted WordPress website.
- Coordinate board communications and meeting materials.Support compliance with bylaws and governance policies.
Founding Board of Directors Recruitment
The Sibling Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as founding members of our Board of Directors. Founding Board Members will play a critical role in building trust and credibility, establishing the foundation, governance and advisory structure, and long-term direction of the organization.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of persons with disabilities, their families, and vulnerable communities and who are willing to share their expertise, leadership, and professional experience to advance our mission.
Founding Board Members will serve an initial commitment of at least one year in an uncompensated governance role. During this foundational period, members will help establish organizational policies, support strategic planning, strengthen community partnerships, and guide the growth and sustainability of The Sibling Foundation.
Ideal candidates will bring experience, knowledge, and connections in areas such as nonprofit leadership, healthcare, disability services, finance, law, fundraising, education, community advocacy, communications, or related fields.
Additional Information
- This is an uncompensated volunteer governance position. Board members do not receive wages, salary, or employee benefits.
- Founding Board Members are expected to serve an initial minimum one-year term.
- Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional committee meetings or organizational activities as needed.
- Responsibilities may evolve as The Sibling Foundation grows and organizational needs change.
- Appointment to the Board is contingent upon completion of the Foundation’s recruitment and selection process, including interviews, reference checks, and approval by the Board of Directors.
- Board members are expected to comply with the Foundation’s bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, and other applicable governance policies.
