The Sibling Foundation is a nonprofit organization philanthropically dedicated to improving the social, emotional, and material well-being of persons with disabilities, their families, and other vulnerable members of society through advocacy, resource connection, education, and community partnerships.

Founded on the belief that siblings play lifelong roles as advocates, caregivers, and champions for their loved ones, we emphasize strengthening the sibling relationship while supporting the entire family. Together with our communities and partners, we work to advance dignity, inclusion, and lasting systemic change so every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Role Overview

The Director of Fundraising leads the Foundation’s fundraising and resource development efforts. This individual works with the Board of Directors to develop fundraising strategies, cultivate donor and community relationships, and support the organization’s long-term financial sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Located anywhere within the United States.
• Minimum one-year commitment.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, philanthropy, finance, or a related field.
• Experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, business development, sales, or community engagement preferred.
• Strong relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar software.
• Experience with Notion, donor management systems, or willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies and annual fundraising goals.
• Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
• Research grant opportunities and support grant writing efforts.
• Coordinate fundraising campaigns, events, and donor stewardship activities.
• Monitor fundraising progress and provide reports to the Board of Directors.
• Collaborate with board members to strengthen the Foundation’s financial sustainability.
• Ensure fundraising activities align with organizational policies and ethical standards.

Founding Board of Directors Recruitment

The Sibling Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as founding members of our Board of Directors. Founding Board Members will play a critical role in building trust and credibility, establishing the foundation, governance and advisory structure, and long-term direction of the organization.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of persons with disabilities, their families, and vulnerable communities and who are willing to share their expertise, leadership, and professional experience to advance our mission.

Founding Board Members will serve an initial commitment of at least one year in an uncompensated governance role. During this foundational period, members will help establish organizational policies, support strategic planning, strengthen community partnerships, and guide the growth and sustainability of The Sibling Foundation.

Ideal candidates will bring experience, knowledge, and connections in areas such as nonprofit leadership, healthcare, disability services, finance, law, fundraising, education, community advocacy, communications, or related fields.

Additional Information

• This is an uncompensated volunteer governance position. Board members do not receive wages, salary, or employee benefits.
• Founding Board Members are expected to serve an initial minimum one-year term.
• Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional committee meetings or organizational activities as needed.
• Responsibilities may evolve as The Sibling Foundation grows and organizational needs change.
• Appointment to the Board is contingent upon completion of the Foundation’s recruitment and selection process, including interviews, reference checks, and approval by the Board of Directors.
• Board members are expected to comply with the Foundation’s bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, and other applicable governance policies.
