Disability Facts
16% of the World’s Population is Disabled.
This is over 1 billion people in the world. They are the world’s most significant minority (WHO, 2023).
72% of individuals with IDD live with their families and in 24% of these households, caregivers are over the age of 60.
“While people with disabilities are living longer and family caregivers are aging, siblings often take on a more crucial role as parents become less able to support their adult child” (Forbes, 2025)
The Global Prevalence of Persons with disabilities is increasing substantially.
“This increase is due to demographic and epidemiological changes in the population (such as aging and the global increase in chronic health conditions), and health emergencies (such as disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and conflicts).” (WHO, 2023)

Founder’s Notes

“As a big sister, my goal is to provide as much resources and support to my brother as he navigates life with a disability. In creating, The Sibling Foundation, I hope to extend a similar support system to families across the nation and even the world”
