The Sibling Foundation is a nonprofit organization philanthropically dedicated to improving the social, emotional, and material well-being of persons with disabilities, their families, and other vulnerable members of society through advocacy, resource connection, education, and community partnerships.

Founded on the belief that siblings play lifelong roles as advocates, caregivers, and champions for their loved ones, we emphasize strengthening the sibling relationship while supporting the entire family. Together with our communities and partners, we work to advance dignity, inclusion, and lasting systemic change so every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Role Overview

The Director of Programs provides strategic leadership for the Foundation’s programs and initiatives. This individual works with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and evaluate programs that advance the Foundation’s mission while identifying unmet community needs, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring programs are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with organizational goals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Located Anywhere.
• Minimum one-year commitment.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in nonprofit management, public health, healthcare administration, social work, education, psychology, human services, public administration, or a related field.
• Experience developing, coordinating, implementing, or evaluating community, nonprofit, healthcare, educational, or disability-related programs preferred.
• Knowledge of disability services, family support systems, community resources, or social services.
• Strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Experience collaborating with community organizations, healthcare providers, schools, government agencies, or other stakeholders preferred.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar software.
• Experience with Notion for project management and collaboration, or willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Foundation programs and initiatives.
• Identify community needs and recommend new programs or services that align with the Foundation’s mission.
• Develop program goals, objectives, timelines, and performance measures.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations, disability service providers, schools, healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with identifying grant-funded program opportunities and support program-related fundraising efforts.
• Monitor program outcomes and prepare reports for the Board of Directors.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen program effectiveness and community impact.
• Ensure programs promote inclusion, accessibility, equity, and person-centered practices.
• Work collaboratively with other board members to support the Foundation’s strategic priorities.

Founding Board of Directors Recruitment

The Sibling Foundation is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as founding members of our Board of Directors. Founding Board Members will play a critical role in building trust and credibility, establishing the foundation, governance and advisory structure, and long-term direction of the organization.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of persons with disabilities, their families, and vulnerable communities and who are willing to share their expertise, leadership, and professional experience to advance our mission.

Founding Board Members will serve an initial commitment of at least one year in an uncompensated governance role. During this foundational period, members will help establish organizational policies, support strategic planning, strengthen community partnerships, and guide the growth and sustainability of The Sibling Foundation.

Ideal candidates will bring experience, knowledge, and connections in areas such as nonprofit leadership, healthcare, disability services, finance, law, fundraising, education, community advocacy, communications, or related fields.

Additional Information

• This is an uncompensated volunteer governance position. Board members do not receive wages, salary, or employee benefits.
• Founding Board Members are expected to serve an initial minimum one-year term.
• Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional committee meetings or organizational activities as needed.
• Responsibilities may evolve as The Sibling Foundation grows and organizational needs change.
• Appointment to the Board is contingent upon completion of the Foundation’s recruitment and selection process, including interviews, reference checks, and approval by the Board of Directors.
• Board members are expected to comply with the Foundation’s bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, and other applicable governance policies.
